Ulf Linden 1933 - 2025

The International Skating Union (ISU) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of ISU Honorary Member Ulf Linden, who died on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at the age of almost 92, after a long and meaningful life.

Mr. Linden served the skating sports with dedication and distinction. He was President of the Swedish Speed Skating ISU Member, Svenska Skridskoförbundet, from 1994 to 1997, making significant contributions to Swedish skating and later appointed as honorary President. He was appointed as the Treasurer of the ISU from 1996 to 2010, contributing his professional knowledge to build and protect the finances of the ISU. He was made an ISU Honorary member in 2010 in recognition of his enduring commitment to skating and to the ISU community. 

His integrity, quiet authority, sense of humor, and long-standing support for athletes and officials alike left a clear and lasting mark on our sport.

On behalf of the ISU Council, our Members, and the wider skating family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Ingeborg and to his daughters Marie Håkansson, Birgitta Linden and Lotta Rosborg.

The ISU pays tribute to Mr. Linden’s lifetime of service and to the values he exemplified throughout his decades of involvement in skating.
