The ISU Centers of Excellence (CoEs) are at the forefront of Skater development, forming a dynamic global network dedicated to advancing the sport of skating. As a key part of the ISU Development Program, the CoEs are pivotal in achieving the ISU’s development goals and fostering talent across the globe.

We are pleased to announce that the ISU Center of Excellence in Heerenveen (NED) has launched an exciting full-time Speed Skating training program! This program enables Skaters from all corners of the world to immerse themselves in the renowned Dutch training tradition in Speed Skating. Participants will have the unique opportunity to train alongside world-class Coaches and elite athletes, gaining invaluable insights and experience that will elevate their performance on the ice.
In addition to the CoEin Heerenveen, others in the Speed Skating Branch, including the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City (USA) and the Olympic Oval Calgary in Canada are also active in offering high-level international training programs to Speed Skaters. These development hubs, utilizing Olympic venues and state-of-the-art facilities, provide Skaters and Coaches with the resources and expertise needed to excel in their training.

The new international training program at the ISU Center of Excellence in Heerenveen (NED) offers a structured, high-performance environment where Skaters train six days a week under the guidance of expert coaches and specialists. The training sessions take place at Thialf, home to the Dutch National Team, featuring a state-of-the-art 400m ice rink, a high-tech gym, and world-class training facilities.
